Obituary of Sylvia Stewart

Sylvia Stewart was born on September 18th 1940 in Long Beach, California to Norma Maria Ferris and James Sledge Creekmore.She was raised in Fort Worth, Texas with her siblings, Beverly Sue Mills and Charles Vernon Mills. Sylvia met the love of her life, Maj. Charles E. Stewart, when she was just fifteen years old working as a carhop. Through Charles’ 23 year military career they were stationed all over the world and moved 23 times. After retirement in 1976, they settled in Joshua, Texas where they lived in the house that Charles built for the next 40 years. When Charles passed due to an untimely illness on December 2nd 2000, Sylvia continued to live in the same house for the next 18 years. Sylvia was an active member of Grace Lutheran Church where she was best known to family and friends for her wonderful baking skills and love of being around her church family. Sylvia was a devoted army wife who loved to entertain, an excellent homemaker and baker, dedicated mother, and will always be known to her grandchildren and family as Mimi Sly.Sylvia is preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Charles.Sylvia is survived by her daughter and son and their spouses, Letanja and Stephen Brooks, and Charles and Anja Stewart; her grandchildren, Christopher Stewart, Jennifer Fever, Emily Brooks, and Kate Brooks; and two great-grandchildren, Liam Lippard and Abigail Fever.
