Obituary of Jackie Lee Bibbs

Jack Bibbs of Fort Worth, went to his eternal rest on March 23rd, 2021, peacefully, while watching his favorite sports on TV. Jack was born on June 12th, 1948, in Temple, Texas. The youngest of the 4 brothers and 1 sister, born to Cleo Bibbs and Annie Bell Chambless (Ne: Walter J. Chambless, Jack’s stepfather). He is preceded in death by his parents, and his stepfather, along with his brothers, Gene and Bobby.Jack spent his youth as a farm boy and loved playing high school sports for Robstown High School. After high school he began serving his country by joining the Marine Corps. Deployed to Vietnam, he served at Khe San during the Tet Offensive of 1968. Wounded later at Pecas, he was awarded the Purple Heart. After his discharge from the Marines, and not quite being finished with the military, Jack joined the Army. This began his career in aviation, and he had a second tour in Vietnam as a helicopter crew chief. Jack retired from his military career after having served in The Marines, The Army and The National Guard.Following his active military service and while still serving in the National Guard, Jack utilized his aviation and flying experience by becoming a member of General Dynamics (later Lockheed Martin) workforce. He quickly became an expert with the F-16, and worked his way up through the ranks, retiring from Lockheed Martin as Quality Control Supervisor. Always looking for self-improvement and to gain knowledge, Jack finished his Bachelor of Business Administration at Texas Wesleyan College and his Master of Business Administration at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University.Jack loved and served his country, and was a true patriot. Jack also actively loved and served God. He was a longtime active member of Holy Family Catholic Church and The Knights of Columbus, serving for 25 years in all positions, to include Grand Knight.Jack was proud that he was able to serve his country in the military, and his God by his work in the church and The Knights of Columbus. He was known by all to be a helper and a friend. All the local high schools will be missing one of their most ardent sports fans with Jack’s passing!Jack is survived by his wife of 40 years, Dr. Barbara (Bobbie) Skipper, his favorite cruising companion. Also surviving are his brother Charles Bibbs (Jan), his daughter Leigh Bibbs Podschelne (Paul) and daughter Christina Skipper-Bibbs: five grandchildren: Matthew Podschelne (Jannell), Emily Castro, Christian Podschelne, Dylan and Dakota DeShong: two great grandchildren, Charlotte Podschelne and Buddy Castro and many wonderful nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews. One of Jack’s goals was to be the favorite uncle to his nieces and nephews, a goal he certainly achieved.
