Obituary of Eugenia Anderson Darden
Jean Anderson Darden, 98, a former Ft. Worth school teacher, died Dec. 28, 2020 in a local care center after a decline of several months.Jean was born in Bonham, Texas to W.A. Goin and Inez Biggerstaff Goin. She graduated from Bonham High School and four years later received a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Texas at Austin.She married A.L. Anderson in 1945. He was an optometrist in Ft. Worth until his death in 1963. In 1964 she began teaching elementary school at Bruce Shulkey Elementary, and later taught at J.T. Stevens Elementary.In 1976, she met and married John M. Darden, and they had a long and happy marriage until his death in 2010.After her retirement from teaching, Jean became a member of the Women’s Club (the ’93 Club), Opti-Mrs., and the Ft. Worth Retired Teachers Association. She was a former member of Ridglea Country Club and a long-time member of Altamesa Church of Christ.Jean was preceded in death by husbands A.L. Anderson and John M. Darden, and by her brother Charles Goin of Plano, Texas.She is survived by her son Bill Anderson and wife Cindy, of Kerrville, Texas, her grandson Austin Anderson and wife Shawnell, and by two great-grandsons, Huxley and Banks. She is also survived by two children of John Darden, his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and by many friends and past students with whom she fondly kept in touch.
