Obituary of Karen Ann Reese McCreless

Karen Ann Reese McCreless of Burleson, Texas (known by friends and family as “KK”), went to heaven December 1, 2018. She was 74 years old.KK was born at Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio, Texas to William Nathaniel Reese and Sibyl Gloria Jones. She married Richard Otis McCreless (10/22/1939 – 3/9/2006) on April 23, 1964. They loved each other deeply. She cherished the memories created on their 40th wedding anniversary at Niagara Falls.KK’s greatest joy in life was being a devoted wife and mother. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, reading, decorating, and gardening when she was not spending time with family. Her secret wish was to become a brain surgeon, because she loved to tinker with things. She loved to day-dream at school and spent endless hours doing so only to lead to years of her and her girls spending hours dreaming of decorating, paint colors or other creative endeavors. KK was extremely witty, telling her future in-laws her dad was in the circus because he worked away from home.She was a busy mom with PTA and Sunday School obligations but did have a few interesting jobs in her life including: being a silent DJ at a radio station, where she had to sometimes knock the fire ants off the giant antenna when the station went down; or painting candles at the Georgetown Candle Factory- that job only lasted a week, it was not creatively challenging enough for her. She loved all genres of music and played them at top volume; especially classical and Queen.KK and Richard moved numerous times in their lives taking the family from San Antonio to Houston, Austin, Georgetown, Massachusetts and Indiana. She was ever the optimist about the new friends her girls would make. Becoming a grandmother brought her much happiness. She and Richard moved from Georgetown to Fort Worth to be closer to their grandchildren in 2004.KK is survived by her daughters, Shannon and William Pena of Burleson, Texas, and Heather and Mike Hodson of Fort Worth, Texas; grandchildren, Madeleine and Elizabeth (Betsy) Carr and Kyler and Thomas Pena; brother, Bill Reese and Cyndee Woelfle of Laguna Niguel, California and Sheri and Jon Snyder of Cedar Park, Texas; cousins, Danny Jones of Adamsville, Tennessee and Lynne Krog of Georgetown, Texas; nephews, Travis, Bryan and Mark Reese, Trey Joyner; and niece, Laura Beth Watts (Wawa).
