Obituary of Emily Pearl Starnes Miller
Emily Pearl Miller passed peacefully into the presence of the Lord early Monday morning, June 12, 2017.She was born on March 28, 1931 in Goldthwaite to Homer and Alta Kemper Starnes. Emily earned a B.S. and an M.S. from Baylor University in Education. She taught elementary school in Waco, middle school in Birdville, and was a reading consultant for White Settlement and later for Birdville I.S.D.Emily was a longtime member of Broadway Baptist Church where she worked in food ministry and was a member and president of the Felicia Class.Her home was the happy place where everyone gathered for wonderful meals and memories. Emily also made beautiful quilts that her family treasures.Emily’s last year was with the Riverside Memory Care Center where she was very happy. Her sweet and grateful attitude endeared her to the staff and she is remembered as always cheerful, making others feel good about themselves. The family thanks the staff for their kindness and wonderful care.Emily was preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, Spencer Miller.She is survived by her children, Jimmy Sharp, Mary Wirth and her husband, James, and John Sharp and his wife, Liba; grandchildren, Emily Modlin and her husband, Cole, Rachel Lewis and her husband, Schuyler, Naomi Sharp, and Avigayl Sharp; and great granddaughters, Shiloh and Joy Modlin, and Brynleigh Lewis.
