Obituary of Bitha Christine Baker Uptmore
Weatherford, Bitha Christine “Chris” Baker Uptmore, 86, loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, went to the Lord at home surrounded by family, Wednesday, May 6, 2020.Chris was born May 14, 1933 to Johnnie Mae and Othor R. Baker in Hubbard, Texas. She married Andrew “Butch” Uptmore on Dec. 10 1950. Chris was a substitute teacher for the Fort Worth ISD., cub scout leader and active member at St. Paul’s Catholic Church. Chris enjoyed gardening, quilting, and traveling, but most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.She was a member of the St. Stephens Catholic Church and The New Authon Historical Society. She and her husband moved to Peaster and raised miniature donkeys, peacocks and Shadow, her beloved dog. Chris had a unique flair for fashion, knack for making people laugh and feel special. Chris was loved by all who met her and will be missed dearly.Chris was preceded in death by her parents Johnnie Mae and Orthor Baker; brothers James Dillard Baker and Stancel Baker and daughters Mary Ann and Rita Joy Uptmore.Survivors: Husband of 69 years, Andrew Uptmore; sons, Andrew “Andy” Uptmore, Jr., and wife, Angel, Michael Uptmore and wife, Karen and David Uptmore and wife, Tami; daughters, Angela Uptmore, Anna Stapleton, Sherrie Dast and husband, Bill and Paula Moore and husband, Terry; 12grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
