Obituary of Norma O'Keefe Schaffrath

Norma O’Keefe Schaffrath, 86, passed away on Sunday June 25, 2017.Norma was born in Baltimore and married Henry (Hank) Schaffrath of Chicago. Hank graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy at Annapolis in 1953. They began their 52 year marriage as an Air Force couple moving to Houston, New Hampshire, England, California, New York and Texas. Upon settling in Texas, Norma began her career as a teller at Texas American Bank and was ultimately promoted to Assistant Vice-President.Norma was a generous and loving soul who never met a stranger and was cherished by all of her family, friends and parishioners at St. Bartholomew Catholic Church where she was an active member.Norma’s family was a great source of joy to her! They include her children Joseph Schaffrath and Donna Detzel, son-in-law John Detzel, her grandchildren Forrest and Tristan Detzel, her siblings Jean Goss, Shirley Hartman, Joan Alt, Carol Browning and Ernie O’Keefe, her many beloved nieces and nephews, and Norma’s brother-in-law Bill Schaffrath and his wife Betty Schaffrath.Norma’s family extends special appreciation to the staff of Bethesda Gardens Senior Living who loved and cared for Norma as if she was their own grandmother. Your kindness will never be forgotten.
