Obituary of Helen Beatrice Knopp Talbot

Helen Beatrice “Bea” Knopp Talbot, age 100, passed away peacefully April 1, 2021. She was born March 2, 1921 in her home in San Antonio, TX to Edwin and Annie Knopp. Bea grew up in San Antonio and met Ralph Dobrusky in 1940. They were married on April 26,1940. Ralph was killed in an airplane accident on September 5, 1942. They had 1 child, Ralph, who was only 2 months old at the time of his death.Bea then met Louis Lester “Lou” Talbot and they were married on September 25, 1945. Lou adopted Bea’s first son and they proceeded to have 7 more children. They lived all over the world, but Bea’s favorites were Hawaii, Germany and Washington, DC. They settled in Fort Worth, TX in 1968 where Bea lived until moving to Garrison, ND in 2016 to be near her daughter, Margaret, who helped care for her until 2020. While living in Fort Worth, Bea served as a Eucharistic Minister at Saint Andrew’s Church where she was a longtime member. She was also on the bereavement committee at the church. Bea was a loving wife and mother to her children as well as her grandchildren.Bea’s husband, Lou, passed away in 2006 after 61 years of marriage. In addition to Lou, Bea was preceded in death by her daughter, Anne who passed away in 1984, her son in law, Jim Spain in 2012, her son, John in 2016 and her daughter, Margaret Spain in 2021.Bea is survived by: son, Ralph (Diana Reisen) of Boston, MA, son Tom (Jerry) of Grapevine, TX, son Richard (Connie) of Weatherford, TX, son Bill (Stephanie) of Bentonville, VA, son James (Lori) of Gunnison, CO, and daughter in law, Teresa Talbot of Fort Worth, TX; as well as 16 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.The family would like to thank the amazing staff at the Garrison Hospital nursing home for all their care and support of Bea these past 4+ years.
