Obituary of Esther Cantu Barrientes

Esther Barrientes, 89, passed away on Wednesday, July 11, 2018, surrounded by her family at Vitas Hospice.Esther was born October 24, 1928 in Creedmore, Texas. She retired from Montgomery Wards after 35 years and became office manager for husband’s roofing company. Esther volunteered for the Social Ministry at St. Andrew’s, which became her passion, and also volunteered for the St. Andrew School Cafeteria monitoring the noise levels until her two granddaughters pleaded with her to retire. She would never refuse anyone in need.She was the last survivor of her family of eight children.She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Joe Barrientes Sr.; mother, Carolina Cantu; grandson, Joshua Rodriguez; and granddaughter, Stephanie Celeste Balandran.Survivors: Her children, Gloria Davis, Joe Barrientes Jr., Ruben Barrientes and his wife Rita, Connie Richie, Rudy Barrientes and his wife Lisa, Roy Barrientes, and Viola Saragosa and her husband Eddie; 13 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great grandson, and 2 future great-great grandchildren.The family would like to offer a special thanks to the nurses at Vitas Hospice.
