Obituary of Joe Bill Goggans
Joe Bill Goggans passed away December 2, 2018 due to complications associated with end stage Alzheimer’s disease.Joe was born February 3, 1925. He spent his childhood hard at work on a depression-era wheat and dairy farm in Lincoln County, Kansas. The world was at war when Joe finished High School, so he enlisted. At a dance before deployment to Europe, he met Jean Ann Wade, who would later become his wife of 70 years.Joe saw combat in Germany and Austria as a member of the Army’s 13th Armored Division. He never forgot the hardship and cold of that winter in the Ardennes Forest. Home from the war and occupation, he married Jean and entered Kansas State University. He earned his degree from TCU, then hired on as an engineer at Convair. He retired from General Dynamics 30 years later. His world was his family, his dogs, his rebuilt tractors, his farm, his workshop and his many dear friends. Joe and Jean were members of Trinity Episcopal Church for 70 years. He lived life to the fullest. Although handed some pretty tough deals in life, Joe was never bitter. He was truly grateful for every blessing. A kinder man never lived. Many thanks to the wonderful caring staff at Vantage at CityView Memory Care and Encompass Hospice for their skill and compassion.Joe is preceded in death by his wife, Jean, his son, Michael Joseph and granddaughter Jennifer Ferris.Survivors include his daughter, Melissa (Missy) Joslin and husband, W.
