Obituary of Pierce Dale Doan

Pierce Dale Doan, 72, of Fort Worth, Texas, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on November 14, 2021.Pierce was born in Bowie, Texas, on December 22, 1948, to Chris and Betty Doan. He grew up in Stamford, Texas, and graduated from Stamford High School in 1967. He went to Texas Tech University, where he earned a business degree and met Ann, whom he married in 1971. Pierce served in the United States Army as a helicopter pilot, and the two of them moved to several locations as his assignments changed. After he served in Korea, he earned an honorary discharge from the Army and moved to Stamford to help run Cashway, the family grocery store. His family of four moved to Irving, where he worked for Frito Lay and then to Wichita Falls, where he worked for Frito Lay and Pitney Bowes and earned an MBA from Midwestern State University. In 1985, they moved to Fort Worth, and Pierce worked for Pitney Bowes and Lockheed Martin. He retired from Lockheed Martin in December 2014.Pierce was a faithful member of Arborlawn United Methodist Church and the Faith Bible Class. He lived his faith by serving God and others. Pierce served as an usher and a congregational care minister, and he was known for always wearing a pocket square to church on Sundays. Pierce was a member of the American Legion Post 569 and a member of the Cowtown Treasure Hunters Club.Everyone remembers Pierce’s humor; he loved to laugh and make jokes—but he often said that he didn’t always agree with everything that came out of his mouth. He enjoyed playing golf several times a week, metal detecting, and mowing several yards, in addition to his own. He thought he could fix almost anything, and he asked for help only after he had consulted Google and YouTube. Each morning, he woke up early and did the puzzles in the paper as he drank his coffee. He and Ann enjoyed eating out, traveling around Texas, and spending time with family and friends.Pierce is preceded in death by his parents, Chris and Betty Doan. He is survived by his wife, Ann; his daughter, Charlotte Toulouse; and his son, Jad Doan (wife, Jamie); his grandsons, Brayden, Justin, Carson, and Kyle; sister, Sherry Christensen (husband, Chris); brother, Jimmy Doan (wife, Dorothy), twin sister, Peggy Larance (husband, Bruce); and sister, Marsha Johnson (husband, Terry). He is also survived by several nieces and nephews (including his favorite), as well as extended family and friends he considered family.
