Obituary of Edithe Hope Tillman Pearson
On January 8, 2022, Edithe Hope Pearson passed away peacefully in Fort Worth, Texas.She was born in Denmark, Wisconsin on November 13, 1928 to Ruby and William Tillman and was the youngest of their four children. Hope graduated from nursing school and specialized as a nurse anesthetist, making her a valued member of many surgical teams at various hospitals. She met and married Jack W. Pearson, a resident physician at Fitzsimon’s Army Medical Center after moving there with her two sisters, Carol and Cynthia.Hope and Jack’s first tour of duty was Orleans, France and then moved stateside to Silver Spring, MD; Tacoma, WA; and finally El Paso, TX., where Col. Pearson retired from the military after 20 years of service. They decided to move to Carmel, IN where Dr. Pearson was a professor of medicine at IUPUI Medical Center and Hope was a stay at home mother until ultimately moving to Tucson, AZ to enjoy a long retirement together. After the loss of her beloved husband, Jack, Hope moved to Fort Worth, TX to be closer to her family.Hope cultivated numerous interests, attaining a stockbrokers license while in the DC area and then pursued a career in painting while stationed in El Paso, TX that continued throughout her lifetime. This culminated in exhibits at numerous galleries in the Tucson area and are on display in the homes and businesses of family members and friends. She also loved playing the piano and was an avid golf enthusiast who shot 2 holes-in-one, a particular source of pride.Mrs. Pearson loved the Southwest and enjoyed exploring canyons and visiting trading posts, collecting Native American art of all kinds along the way. She loved and cared for the family dogs through the years, most recently Shepard or “Shep”. She will be remembered for her striking beauty, fun loving nature and artistic talents. She continues to inspire her family with her loyalty and loving commitment as a wife and mother and her deep devotion to God.Hope is survived by her sister, Carol Shwayder; and children, Deborah Pearson, husband Joey Chesney, Joan Friedman, husband Walker Friedman, Jack Pearson, wife Barbara Pearson and Hope Dolan, husband Robert Dolan. She also leaves behind nine grandchildren, two great grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and loving friends. Special thanks for the compassionate care provided by so many kind individuals and caregivers.
