Obituary of Mary Jo Schad Naughton
Mary Jo Schad Naughton, 84, faithful wife and mother, went to be with her Lord and Savior Monday, August 13, 2018.Mary was born in Gainesville,TX on March 12, 1934 to Cora Lee Bischoff and Joseph W. Schad. She had 5 siblings, all who have preceded her in death. She went to St. Mary’s High School in Gainesville, where she was a cheerleader.Mary and Charles started dating when they were 15 and 16 years old. Their first date was to the State Fair of Texas. They were married at age 18 and 19 years old on October 2, 1952. They were together for 70 years and married for 66 years and celebrated every anniversary by going back to the State Fair of Texas.The Naughtons began their family in Gainesville and then moved to North Richland Hills in 1970, where Mary worked at JC Penney’s in Fine Jewelry. She was a beautiful caring wife and mother, a fantastic cook, a skilled seamstress, had a green thumb, had an angelic voice and was an accomplished pianist. She loved gardening and was known for her beautiful roses. Mary was also very active in the Tarrant County Pro-Life community.She retired after 24 years at J.C. Penney and upon retiring, her sister-in-law, Mary Jean Schmitz and her husband, Jerry encouraged them to move to St. Francis Village in Crowley, where they spent more than 12 years enjoying the wildlife and beautiful views of the lake. Even better than the views were the amazing friends they made and enjoyed.Mary loved and adored her sweet, sweet Charles and they made a point to hold hands and pray together every day. She also made sure she talked to her kids every day.Mary made an impact on all those she encountered and will be greatly missed.Mary was preceded in death by her son Michael, and is survived by her husband of 66 years, Charles; children, Sharon Lowe (Stephen), Charles “Chuck” Naughton, Jr, (Debi), Susan Cobb (Hugh), Tracy Knapp (Kurt); grandchildren, Darcy Cameron (Clayton), Tate Lowe (Jenny), Daniel Naughton (Stephanie), Christopher Cobb (Meghan), Callie Cobb(deceased), Caleb Cobb, Courtney Schroeder (Grant), Casey Cobb, Cathryn Cobb, Caroline Cobb, Jacob Knapp and Joshua Knapp; great-grandchildren, Cheyenne, Raven, Clay, Elliot Lowe, Nathan and Tanner.
