Obituary of Patricia Ann Meyer Hayes

Patricia Ann Meyer Hayes, 92, passed away September 24, 2017.Patricia was born in Mobridge, South Dakota on June 5, 1925 to John Edward “J. Ed” Meyer and Edna Elizabeth Kemmerling Meyer. She graduated with honors from Mobridge High School in 1943 and was also named Basketball Sweetheart that year. She attended the University of Minnesota and graduated summa cum laude with degrees in Journalism and Psychology. She was a member of Phi Beta Kappa.Patricia married David Philip Hayes on April 17, 1948 in Minneapolis, and they relocated to Fort Worth in 1953.She worked as a Psychologist helping children in Fort Worth for many decades. She loved the families and colleagues she met through her work, and many became lifelong friends.She also loved collecting antique furniture, her large collection of books, and good TexMex food. In her younger years, she was an unbeaten arm wrestler.Patricia was preceded in death by her parents, her brother John Randall “Jack” Meyer, her husband David Hayes, son Paul Hayes, daughter-in-law Laura Hayes, her whippet Heather, her chihuahua Cocoa, and her Lhasa Apso mix “Puppy.”She is survived by three children, Mike Hayes (Teresa) of San Antonio, John Hayes (Cheri) of Fort Worth, Susan Hayes (Grant Keiser) of Tarzana, California; grandchildren, Shane Sikora (Joline), David Hayes (Pamela), Monica Nikolaou (Dennis), Rachael Hayes, Trish Hayes, Kristyn Frank (Tim), Jennifer Williams (Cory), Ryan Hayes (Lisa), Spencer Hayes, and Sydney Hayes; as well as eleven great-grandchildren.
