Obituary of Mary Nell Noble Rimar

Mary Nell Rimar went to Heaven on July 29, 2017 with her children holding her hands.Mary was born on Jan.25, 1927. She was adopted at six months of age from the Buckner Children’s Home in Dallas by her parents, C.L. and Emily Noble, of Snyder, Texas. She had a wonderful childhood in Snyder with her extended family of many aunts and uncles from her mother’s side of the family. Upon graduation from Snyder High School, Class of 1944, she attended Texas Tech University, graduating on June 2, 1947 with a B.S. in Chemistry.After graduation she taught high school in Capitan, New Mexico and in Brownfield, Texas and returned to her alma mater, Snyder High School, and taught during the 1948-1949 school year. While at Texas Tech she met the love of her life, Michael J. Rimar, in what was, in Mary’s words, “love at first sight. They married in the family home in Snyder on Sepember3, 1949.In 1951, they moved to Fort Worth to start a new life together, subsequently having three children, Michaelyn, Charles and Ann. Over the ensuing years, she was totally devoted to her family, showering them with affection, devotion and love and always thinking of them before herself. She was a voracious reader and instilled in her children a love for reading which they carry with them to this day.Her husband, Michael, passed away on November 18, 1987 and she started a new phase of her life. She traveled extensively, visiting more than a dozen countries, often accompanied by her children.In 1997, her first grandchild, Michael Luis Slotkin, was born. He was followed by MariaZoe Irasema in 2002 and Andrew Mateo in 2003, all three of whom were adopted from Guatemala. She continued in the tradition of being a wonderful grandparent in the mold of her own parents, C.L. and Emily, visiting them often and encouraging them in their pursuits. Every year she provided a family vacation for all the children and grandchildren to foster a sense of family and enjoyment of each other as individuals.She was very active in the local community, participating in the North Side Women’s Club, the Pan-American Club, Meals on Wheels, in addition to various bridge and reading groups. She also continued her close friendship over the years with her high school friends, Tippy, Charlene and Mary Ellen.In her later years she joined McKinney Bible Church and formed many close personal relationships with her Sunday School, Bible Study and Prayer groups. She was the kindest, sweetest person her children ever knew and always had a friendly, outgoing and heart-warming disposition to everyone with whom she came into contact. She was truly the best thing that ever happened to her children and they will always be eternally grateful that she was their mother. She will be fondly remembered, greatly missed and her family and friends look forward to someday being with her for all eternity.She is survived by her children, Michaelyn, Charles and Ann; her sister-in-law, Pat Rimar; and several nieces, nephews and the grandchildren.
