Obituary of Maria Guadalupe "Lupita" Flores
Maria Guadalupe “Lupita” Flores, 87, was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She was called to heaven surrounded by loving family and friends on January 13, 2023 where she will enjoy eternal happiness.
Visitation begins at 5 p.m. with a Rosary at 6 p.m. on Sunday, January 22, 2023 at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church.
Mass of Christian Burial: 11:00 a.m. Monday, January 23, 2023 at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church.
She will be laid to rest at 10:15 a.m. Tuesday, January 24, 2023 at the Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery with her husband Gilbert Flores who served in the Korean War.
Maria was born on December 12, 1935 in Laredo, TX . She was the daughter of Juanita Perales Martinez. After graduating from Martin High School in Laredo, TX she married Gilbert John Flores, Sr. They moved to Fort Worth where they were lifelong residents. Together they had five children: Gilbert Jr. ( Lucia), Rev. Richard Flores, Sergio (Maria) , Sylvia (Flores) and Tom Morehart, Hilda (Flores) and Michael Meza. Her greatest joy came when she became a grandmother to thirteen grandchildren: Santino , Gabriel, Dane, Andrew, Michael, Erika, Danielle, Jesse, Katherine, Chelsea Morehart, Nicholas Morehart, Mark Kennedy and Jonathan Meza. She was also blessed to be a great grandmother to 17 great grandchildren.
Maria made all the holidays, especially Christmas, magical for her children and grandchildren . She was a supporter of her Catholic faith by being active in the churches where her son , Fr. Richard Flores served.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Gilbert Flores, mother, Juanita Martinez, sisters, Elena Ibarra, Laura Basua, and brothers, Victor, Albert, and Isaac Martinez.
