Dorothy and my mom Olive Pearson were very long-time friends, from working together for so long with the Corp of Engineers downtown, to being neighbors, to school moms at Mary Louise Phillips Elementary School, to attending church at Ridglea Baptist and to being piano moms for our piano lessons with Miss Belscamper. Their lives were so similar from farm upbringings to working moms, women enduring the nearly all male workplaces and Baptist women raised with deep faith. No wonder they had stayed friends for so many years. In retirement, they attended the same beauty shops and attended Live Wires together. They even went on a huge trip to the Holy Land together, an item on both of their "bucket lists". After my retirement from teaching, I had the absolute pleasure of driving the both of them around to different events. I treasure all my moments with the both of them. And since my mom's passing in 2018, Dorothy has kindly acted as my second mom. I will so miss her stories and our talks. She was a great lady and a faithful Christian who acted on her faith. Her large family was her pride and joy and a testament to her witness over the years. I know where she is now and she will delight in her Savior's love. I hope she and Mom will have a moment to catch up with each other! RIP
