Obituary of Stephen Thomas Phillips
Stephen Thomas Phillips,52, passed away on Monday, September 18, 2023.
Stephen was born on October 27, 1970 in Fort Worth, Texas to Ann (Colvin) and James Phillips and was the youngest of seven children. Stephen attended St. Peter The Apostle Catholic School, Nolan Catholic High School and later attended Texas Tech where he met his wife of 28 years, Mary James (Jamie) Hales Phillips. Stephen’s love of Texas Tech sports was unrivaled, and he was very proud to be a lifelong Red Raider. Stephen spent over 30 years in the hospitality industry where he dedicated endless hours to the meticulous management and development of several Texas Golf and Country Clubs.
The light of his life was his and Jamie’s son, Grant. His pride was evident every time he spoke about Grant. His favorite times were spent with family whether it was at the Colvin family farm around the pool, at the beach or simple homemade dinners at home. Stephen loved telling stories about growing up on the family farm - whitewashing fences, mowing grass, and Sunday family suppers. He had an appreciation for the generations who preceded him and fondly reminisced about them. He was an avid sports lover from the time he could barely dribble a basketball or toss a football.
Stephen is survived by his wife, Jamie Phillips; son, Grant Phillips; mother, Ann Colvin; siblings, Jim Phillips and wife, Ava; Mary Phillips Graham and partner Scott Bethel; David Phillips and wife Juilene; Susie Phillips Wacker and husband, Mike; Ann Phillips Picha and husband, James; John Phillips and wife, Liz; and numerous loved nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A Graveside Service will be held on Wednesday, September 27, 2023 at Mount Olivet Cemetery in Fort Worth at 11:00 a.m.
