Obituary of Amanda Pritchett Milligan
Adelaide Amanda Pritchett Milligan passed away peacefully on Saturday night, November 26, 2023 in Fort Worth.
Memorial Service: 1:00 pm, Saturday, December 2, 2023 at All Saints Episcopal Church, 9700 Saints Circle, with a reception following.
Her warm smile, sweetness, and laugh will be greatly missed by family, friends, her caretakers and neighbors at the Stayton.
Amanda was born on October 8, 1936 in Hattiesburg,Mississippi and grew up in Muskogee, OK. She attended Oklahoma University - Norman, OK her freshman year and joined the Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority. She graduated Cum Laude from Randolph Macon - Lynchburg, VA with a BA in History.
She was married to Jerry L Milligan for 56 years. They lived in Muskogee, Oklahoma and Fort Worth, Texas.
Amanda was a wonderful stay at home Mom for 3 children. She was a great cook, and a reassuring and patient Mom. While raising 3 kids, she was active with the guild of the Fort Worth Museum of Science & History, Junior League of Ft. Worth and started playing tennis.
As the children headed to college, she became a Board Member for Senior Citizen Services and Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Tarrant County. She was also appointed to a 3 year term as a lay member of the Grievance Committee, Tarrant County Bar Assn.
For 10 years, she worked part time as an Executive Assistant to a good friend in the insurance business. She also volunteered for All Saints Episcopal, singing in the choir and working with the Altar Guild.
Well into her 80’s, she enjoyed tennis, pickleball, yoga, Healing Hearts, Book Club, weekly Canasta, Fort Worth Symphony and dinners with her many friends and family.
Amanda was preceded in death by her father, Edward Hill Pritchett, and mother, Adelaide Gould Pritchett, and husband, Jerry Lee Milligan.
She is survived by her sister, Kate Johnson (Everett); sons, Jim Milligan (Wendy) & Randall Milligan; daughter Cathleen Milligan Hildebrand (Paul) and grandchildren Matthew, Grace, & James Milligan (Jane).
The family wishes to thank Cherae Slack, RN, Dr. Alan Davenport, Dr. Chi Pham, Dr. Yamini Chennu, her wonderful caretakers from Overture (including Lucy, Bithiah, Mary, Traci, Shaundre, and Ramatu) and the nurses and staff with Reliant Hospice and the Stayton for their dedicated service.
