My friend, Margie, found true love in her later years with Jack West. They were such a great match and really loved being together. They met at the Episcopal Church Margie joined and loved being a part of.
I was so happy for them both. But, with my move to Dallas, we began to lose touch at about that same time and I deeply regret that we did. It would have been wonderful to hear of everything she and Jack were enjoying doing as a couple. And also, to know about the work Margie continued to produce as the extraordinary graphic designer that she was. I was lucky enough to have worked with her on one of her pro bono posters and I was so inspired by her insightful solution to use a graceful, playful script for the heading! Margie was always happy to donate her time and talent to a cause or group she identified with, who needed help.
I let years go by without reaching out to her. Just Christmas cards passed between us. When I learned that Jack had passed, I called her and she shared stories of her life with Jack and their move to The Stayton. When we spoke that last time, I know she was happy and that The Stayton community was dear to her.
I owe so much to Margie. She took me under her wing in Amarillo as part of our local art group and got me started in graphic design. She was so kind to have done that. When I moved to Ft. Worth, she helped me get my first job and she introduced me to the advertising community there. Margie helped so many blossom and I know that because I was one of them.
Margie loved and deeply cared for her family, her friends, her students, both current and of the past, her colleagues, her sweet pets and living the best and kindest life one can.
No one who knew her wasn’t a better person afterwords.
