Melynda Sue Pringle Wester was born December 14, 1944 in Waco, Texas to Arthur and Mary Holodnik Pringle.  She graduated with honors from Waco High School and attended Baylor University on a private merit scholarship in communication arts.  While there, she met her husband, Brooks H. Wester Jr. in the Baylor marching band.  They married in 1964, moved to Fort Worth, and in 1968 had one daughter, Christie Lee.  Melynda began a career in the Radio-TV Commission of the SBC in 1964 and retired 30 years later as Director of the Art and Photography Division.  While at the RTVC, she was an adjunct professor in the School of Communication at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary.

Brooks was a 30 year history teacher in the Mansfield school system and during their married life, the couple sponsored student study groups on tours throughout England major cities of Europe, and Spain through the American Institute for Foreign Study.  They enjoyed multiple independent trips to England and Europe and participated in Civil War reenactments throughout the United States.

Melynda was a 50+ year member of St. Stephen Presbyterian Church where she was a ruling elder, church school teacher and church librarian.  When Brooks was tragically killed in 1999, she became active in Meals on Wheels Inc. of Tarrant County, delivering meals, serving on its board of directors for 6 years, chairing the committee on Client Services and was a nominee for outstanding volunteer of the year in 2004.  She was active in the Scarlett O’Bluebonnet Chapter of the Red Hat Society for 20 years as a Queen Mother and was responsible for the chapter’s monthly newsletter.  She valued additional friendships formed in the Bunko Babes who gathered for the past 18 years.  She was a two time cancer survivor.
