Obituary of Alejandro Escamilla

ALEJANDRO ESCAMILLA

July 28th 1953 - June 12th 2024

Alejandro, fondly known as Alex, was one of six children born to Pedro and Laurentina Escamilla. He was born July 28th 1953 in San Antonio, Tx.

The Escamilla family moved from San Antonio to Ft. Worth, Tx late 1953. Growing up on the southside, his first job was at El Chico Mexican Restaurant. To much of his dislike, he worked in the kitchen making enchiladas and guacamole.

Alex was class president and an honor graduate of Trimble Tech High School class of 1972. Active in sports, he played and coached a girls softball team. Following high school, he studied at TCJC, then began his lifelong career at General Motors. He retired in 2008 with 31 years of service.

His hobbies included drawing, gambling and playing poker. He enjoyed creating various characters for his children and was an avid fan of the Sci-Fi and History channels. He loved sweet peas and was a devoted Cowboys fan. He also enjoyed finding great deals on QVC and HSN. A fierce competitor, he loved winning games, and his favorite thing to do after every victory was to sing "I am the Champion."

He will be remembered for selflessness and his unwavering dedication to his family. When his daughters were young, he ensured they experienced unforgettable trips to Disneyland, Universal Studios, the Grand Canyon, Las Vegas, and other memorable destinations. His greatest joy was spending time with them.

He was welcomed into Heaven on Wednesday June 12th by parents Pedro and Laurentina Escamilla, sister Anita and brother Ricardo.

Those left to cherish his memory include his children; Andrea (Temyas) Drake, Jennifer (Rod) Maxwell, Mindy (Cole) Hill, Crystal Gasca and 15 grandchildren. Spouse and best friend; Margaret T. Escamilla, siblings; Margie (Santiago) Salinas, Raymond (Linda) Escamilla, Pedro (Dora) Escamilla, sister in-law Delia Escamilla and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will welcome friends and loved one beginning at 9:30 a.m. with a Funeral Service led by Rod Maxwell at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, June 19, 2024 at Thompson's Harveson & Cole Funeral Home, 4350 River Oaks Blvd.
