Sherry was born on December 18, 1946, at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton, Ohio. As the daughter of an Air Force pilot, she experienced a childhood of frequent moves before her family settled in Hurst, Texas. She attended LD Bell High School, where she was an active member of the Belle Chicks.

Sherry pursued her undergraduate studies at Texas Wesleyan University and later attended Texas Tech University School of Law, graduating in 1979.

Throughout her law school years, Sherry balanced various jobs, including selling magazines and working as a flight attendant for American Airlines. She began her legal career in the District Attorney's office and eventually took over her father’s defense law practice. Judge Sherry Hill served with dignity as the presiding judge of County Criminal Court No. One of Tarrant County from 1991 until 2014. As a criminal court trial judge, she was simply outstanding. Judge Hill always showed appropriate respect for every lawyer or party who appeared before her. She was always unassuming and never sought attention for herself in her role as judge. She leaves a lasting legacy of competence, excellence, and incredible fairness.

Sherry met her beloved husband, Lee, in August 2006, and they enjoyed a cherished companionship.

At age 50, Sherry created a bucket list that included learning to fly, riding Harley Davidsons, and owning a cat. She fulfilled many of these dreams and more, including owning her own plane. After retiring on December 31, 2014, Sherry continued to lead an active life. She enjoyed traveling with her husband and friends, participating in two mahjong clubs, and doting on her two Chihuahuas, B.G. and Ellie.

Sherry was celebrated for her quick wit and fearless nature. Her fairness and dedication as a judge left a lasting impact on those who knew her. She also had a love for shopping and a vibrant personality that endeared her to many.

Sherry was preceded in death by her son, Brantley Barrett, and her parents, Norma and Roland Hill Jr.

Survivors: She is survived by her husband, Dr. Lee S. Anderson; her brothers, Roland Hill III (Linda) and Wesley Hill (Michelle); her stepson, Rory Barrett (Erika); and several nieces, nephews, and their families.
