Obituary of Nova Lee Welty
Nova Lee Welty, 78, passed away unexpectedly at his home on August 6, 2024.
A private family gathering was held in Fort Worth with a memorial service to be announced at a later time in Tulsa.
Nova was born January 25, 1946 in Stroud, Oklahoma, the son of Charles Eugene and Faye Elvira (McLaughlin) Welty. He graduated from Will Rogers High School in Tulsa in 1964 and began studies at Tulsa University. He entered the US Army where he served in Vietnam, and upon his return from the military, graduated from Tulsa University.
Nova married Mary Frances Thompson in June 1967. He worked as a Programmer and Reservation Analyst for American Airlines and retired after more than 25 years. Upon retirement, Nova and Mary Frances moved from Tulsa to Fort Worth in April 2007 to be near family. While in Tulsa, he attended Regency Park Nazarene Church and attended the Nazarene Church in Fort Worth.
He was preceded in death by parents; sister, Margaret Killion; brother, Harvey Welty; and infant brother, Larry Welty.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Mary Frances Welty; daughter, Lisa Marie Welty Hewitt with her husband, Tim, and their children, Chloe Rose and Eli Rose, Christian Hewitt and Campbell Hewitt of Fort Worth; son, Steven Hudson Welty with his wife, Keri, and their children, Delaney Welty, Cassidy Welty and Hudson Welty, of San Diego, California; and brother, Charles Welty of Muskogee, Oklahoma.
