Obituary of Levy Emory Joffrion

 

Levy Emory Joffrion was born to Herman D and Lola Joffrion in Kenedy, Texas on August 27, 1931. He died August 11, 2024.

Levy grew up in the DeRidder, Louisiana area with his three brothers, Herman D. Joffrion Jr., James Barry Joffrion and Horace Haynes Joffrion. His family moved to Dallas when he was in high school. He graduated from Forest Lawn High School. He furthered his education at SMU where he earned a BA in Journalism. He also played in the Mustang band and SMU orchestra.

Upon graduation, Levy went to work for the Fort Worth Chamber of Commerce where he met his future wife, Josephine Richey Hunter. Levy spent most of his career as an industrial editor. He won many awards for publications at Bell Helicopter, General Dynamics, and Lockheed just to name a few. He was often an expert panelist at Industrial Editor conventions.

Levy, who was affectionately called “Fefi” by his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, loved taking photographs of family, playing the violin, attending Fort Worth Symphony Pops concerts and giving tours of his beloved Fort Worth to family and friends.

Levy was a member of St. Andrews Episcopal Church.

Levy is survived by his stepdaughter, Zoe Ann Hunter Mason; grandchildren, Tiffany Mason Cortright and husband, David, and Heather Mason Levens; nieces,  Karen Joffrion and Pam Joffrion Kirby; nephew, Mike Joffrion; sisters-in-law, Doris Joffrion and Wanda Joffrion; and numerous great-grandchildren, grandnieces and grandnephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, brothers, son-in-law, Ronald Mason; and sister-in-law, Betty Joffrion.

Funeral Service will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday, August 23, 2024 at Thompson's Harveson & Cole Funeral Home, 4350 River Oaks Blvd. with a reception following. 

Private Burial will be later in the day at Greenwood Memorial Park.
