Obituary of Lucy Furlong
Lucile Elisabeth Weber "Lucy" Furlong, born December 20, 1973 in El Paso, Texas, died October 24, 2024 in El Paso.
Growing up, Lucy’s time was divided between Fort Worth and the family ranch at Kent, Texas. Her pioneer ancestors founded the Long X Ranch in 1885.
She attended All Saints Episcopal School and graduated from Arlington Heights High School in Fort Worth. She studied at the University of Mississippi and the University of North Texas. Lucy then completed art history studies in Europe. Upon returning to Fort Worth, Lucy made her debut at The Assembly Ball.
A friend to all, Lucy was insightful, compassionate and witty. Her personality was contagious, with her sparkling smile and zest for life.
Lucy married Clay Furlong on May 20, 2000. They settled into ranching and raised two fine daughters, Mary Fruzan and Eleanor Elisabeth. She enjoyed travel, life on the ranch, the little house in Pecos and studies at home in El Paso. Lucy was devoted to her daughters and her husband, as well as her mother, Mary Joe Goetzke Montgomery.
Preceded in death by her father, Karl Weber, Lucy is survived by her immediate family, cousins and friends too numerous to count. Lucy will be greatly missed, but will always be in the hearts of those who have known her.
Funeral: 1:00 p.m. Friday, November 1, 2024 at First Presbyterian Church. Lucy will be laid to rest beside her grandmother, Mary Fru Reynolds Pealer, as she wished, in Oakwood Cemetery, Fort Worth.
Memorials: Should donations in her memory be desired, the American Cancer Society (link here) or a charity of one’s choice are appropriate.
