Obituary of Ross Sutton
Ross Sutton, 67, passed away on Friday, January 10, 2025.
Visitation: 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, January 17, 2025 at Thompson's Harveson & Cole Funeral Home, 4350 River Oaks Blvd.
Celebration of Life: 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 18, 2025 at the same location, with a reception to follow in the Drawing Room of Thompson's Harveson & Cole.
Ross was born on April 24, 1957, in Bakersfield, California, to Dorothy and Raymond Sutton. A 1975 graduate of Lafayette High School, he earned his bachelor’s degree from Louisiana State University, where he was a proud member of the Kappa Alpha Order.
In 1981, Ross began his career with Bass Enterprises, dedicating 38 years to the company. He retired in 2019 after the company’s acquisition by ExxonMobile, in which he played a key role. Beyond his professional accomplishments, Ross embraced a vibrant and adventurous life filled with hobbies and passions. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, and skiing. He was a proud member of Ducks Unlimited and the Coastal Conservation Association (CCA). Ross also loved a good game of chance at the casino, traveling to new places, and indulging in culinary adventures, whether at a fine restaurant or in his own kitchen.
Ross had a deep love for music and the arts, showcasing his talents as a pianist, singer, and actor. A true Cajun at heart, he took pride in his heritage, narrating Mardi Gras pageants, cooking Cajun cuisines and supporting his LSU Tigers. His lively spirit and sense of humor will be missed by all who knew him.
Ross was preceded in death by his parents, Dorothy and Raymond Sutton, and his brothers, Raymond Sutton Jr. and Steven Sutton.
He is survived by his children: Scott Sutton; Lauren Green and her husband, Stefan; and Michael Sutton and his wife, Michelle. He also leaves behind their mother, Margaret Sutton; grandchildren, Karson Green, Kendall Green, Khloe Green, and Gemma Sutton; sisters-in-law, Cindy Sutton and Nancy Sutton and many nieces and nephews.
Ross Sutton's legacy of love, laughter, and zest for life will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew him.
