Obituary of Lou Ann Madison
Lou Ann Madison, 91, died peacefully Saturday, September 7 surrounded by family. She was born on March 24, 1933 to Mattie Lou and Reagan Hurt in Paris, Texas. An avid music lover and organist, Lou Ann attended East Texas State University and received a degree in Music Education in 1954. Lou Ann was a life-long learner and earned a Master's degree in Library Science from the University of North Texas in 1988.
Lou Ann married Edwin Lewis Madison on June 12, 1954. Throughout her life, she never met a baby she didn’t love, and her seven children, seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren brought her immeasurable joy. After raising her own children, she nurtured others as a Children’s Librarian with the City of Fort Worth. She loved spending time with her family, playing the piano, reading, playing mahjong and her cherished dogs, Rosie and Daisy. Her faith was the cornerstone of her life, and she offered constant prayer on behalf of others.
Lou Ann was preceded in death by her parents and her three brothers, Reagan, Jimmy and Steve. She is survived by her husband, Ed, who lovingly cared for her until the end, her children Edwin (Kathy), Diane (David), Jane-Elizabeth (Judd), Perri (John), Kathryn (Charles), Ben, and David, her grandchildren Aaron (Catherine), Nathan (Rachel), Andrew, Will, Mary-Madison, Clayton, and Austin, her great grandchildren Abigail, Sam and, Landyn, her sister-in-law, Betty, and beloved nieces and nephews.
Funeral: 10:00 a.m. Saturday, September 14 in the Chapel at All Saints’ Episcopal School, 9700 Saints Circle, followed by a reception at the school and then a family graveside service.
Memorials: In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Union Gospel Mission, Family Pathfinders of Tarrant County, or The National Association of Episcopal Schools.
